Parets del Valles

Parets del Valles is a municipality situated 23 km north of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain, within the south-west of the comarca of Valles Oriental, and seven km from its capital Granollers. It covers an area of 8,98 km², and has approx. 16,000 inhabitants. From north to south, the town is crossed by means of the Tenes river. The population is unfold over six areas: Barri Antic, on top of the hill surrounding the church; Eixample, the maximum densely populated, laid out in the 1930s; Escorxador; Can Cerdanet; Can Volart; and Can Riera.

The municipality includes a small exclave to the north-west. The first documented connection with this city is from the year 878, however the first time the name Parets become used became in 904. The modern-day location call comes from the 12th century, probably because of some historical walls of Roman origin observed nearby. Parets turned into under the direct jurisdiction of the King, besides for a brief period in 1383 when the Infante John sold it to Marc de Planella. The jurisdiction become lower back to the King in 1385 via the wife of Bernat Planella. To save you this from occurring again, Parets became officially made a street of Barcelona in 1386.
