Igualada

Igualada is a municipality of the province of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. It is positioned at the left bank of the Anoia river, and on the western end of the Igualada-Martorell-Barcelona railway. Igualada is the capital and vital marketplace of the Anoia comarca, a rich agricultural and wine-generating district. The populace, as of 2009, is 38,918. The metropolis consists of an vintage city, originated within the 11th century, with slender and irregular streets, together with the remains of a fortress and ramparts, plus a new surrounding city with ordinary and spacious streets and plenty of fine houses.

The metropolis is 65 kilometres west from Barcelona and 20 kilometres west from the well-known mountain and monastery of Montserrat. Igualada hosts the European Balloon Festival, the largest warm air balloon competition in Spain and one among the largest in Europe. It takes region each year, because 1997, at the beginning of July. The town also hosts the Aerosport airshow which takes vicinity each year in April or May.
