Castellbisbal

Castellbisbal is a municipality in the comarca of Valles Occidental in Catalonia. It is located at the left bank of the Llobregat river at its confluence with the Rubi river. The city is served by way of the A-7 autopista, the primary N-II avenue and the RENFE railway line R4 between Barcelona and Valencia. The remains of the Castellbisbal citadel are visible on a hill near to the actual urban centre, while the surviving portion of the Pont del Diable across the Llobregat river with its triumphal arch illustrates the historical significance of the metropolis at the Via Augusta.

The parish church of Sant Vincenc dates from the 16th century, at the same time as a Romanesque chapel is in Can Pederol de Baix. Romanesque structure is an architectural style of medieval Europe characterized via semi-circular arches. There is no consensus for the beginning date of the Romanesque fashion, with proposals starting from the sixth to the 11th century, this later date being the maximum typically held.
