About Balaguer

Balaguer is the capital of the comarca of Noguera, in the region of Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated by the stream Segre, a tributary to the Ebre. The district incorporates an exclave toward the east. Balaguer was vanquished from the Moors by Ermengol VI of Urgell in 1106; he made it his new capital, and it remained so for consequent checks of Urgell. The town has a Gothic scaffold, the "Pont de Sant Miquel", over the Segre stream. This scaffold was demolished amid the Spanish Civil War in the skirmish of "Top de Pont" and reconstructed after the war.
Another Gothic building is the Santa Maria Church, in the statures over the city, in accordance with a finely rationed divider dating to the fifteenth century AD. The memorable town is on the correct bank of the Segre be that as it may, following the Spanish Civil War, development started on a cutting edge connect, which started advancement of a cutting edge expansion of the town on the left bank. General Franco's powers initially entered Catalonia from Aragon in 1938 through Balaguer's bridgehead.
