About Baena
Baena is a town of Andalucia in the area of Cordoba, Spain. It is pleasantly arranged close to the stream Marbella on the slant of a slope 52 kilometers southeast of Cordoba by street. The number of inhabitants in the town is 20,266 2012. The site of the Roman town could even now be followed as late as the First World War, with different Roman relics exhumed from the site. The slope is delegated by fortresses. In 1292, the Moors under Mahommed II of Granada vainly attacked the bastion, which was held for Sancho IV of Castile; the 5 Moorish heads in its crest honors the occasion.
Toward the start of the Spanish Civil War the town was the situation of the Baena Massacre, a heartless mass-execution of Spanish republicans where around 700 supporters were killed by the requests of revolutionary Colonel Saenz de Buruaga. Other evaluations notice up to 2,000 unfortunate casualties following the merciless restraint in Baena. Great olive oil keeps on being the backbone of the nearby economy. Sierras Subbeticas Natural Park is situated toward the south of the town.
