About Munsan
Munsan is a town of Paju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It lies on the south bank of the Imjin River, close to the threshold of the Demilitarized Zone and close to Panmunjom and the Joint Security Area. The Joint Security Area is the best portion of the Korean Demilitarized Zone in which North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face. It is regularly known as the Truce Village of Panmunjom in the media and diverse army bills.
Panmunjeom, now positioned in Kaesong, North Hwanghae Province, North Korea, became a village simply north of the de facto border among North and South Korea, in which the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement that paused the Korean War turned into signed. Munsan has a heavy army presence due to the proximity to the South Korean border with North Korea. At the time of the Korean War it turned into called Munsa-an-ni. Munsan changed into the scene of Operation Tomahawk on 23 March 1951, an attempt by way of U.S. Airborne troops to reduce off withdrawing People's Volunteer Army and North Korean army forces.
