Vorna Valley
About Vorna Valley
Vorna Valley is a suburb of Midrand, South Africa. It is situated in Region A of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. Vorna Valley gets its name from the Galaun family's home town of Varniai Vornia, Lithuania. Jacob and Michelle, Father and Mother of siblings Joseph, Israel, Louis, Harry, Abe and sisters Leah, Malka, Tzira and Zira, lived in Lithuania. Jacob claimed a butchery and rented a real estate parcel on which they kept cows. Michelle originated from a cheddar making family. The Galaun family sold cheddar just as milk to enhance their salary from their butchery.
Numerous Jewish young people from Lithuania emigrated because of the military enrollment, neediness and hostile to semitism. Louis Galaun moved to South Africa where he set up himself as a built up property engineer and possessed a container store and land known as Halfway House. Louis in the end set up the township of Vorna Valley in the 1970's. The fundamental blood vessel street was named after his sibling, Harry Galaun. While different boulevards in the rural area were named after for the most part South African specialists, artists, scholars, entertainers and persuasive individuals in the realm of expressions around then.
