About Randburg
Randburg was a region situated in the north west of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. Earlier a different district, its organization declined to the recently made City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, alongside neighboring Sandton and Roodepoort, in the late 1990s. Amid the transitional time of 1996– 2000, Randburg was a piece of the Northern Metropolitan Local Council MLC.
Randburg was established as a town in 1959, as the amalgamation of 32 rural areas, northwest of Johannesburg. Albeit monetarily connected to Johannesburg, occupants made their very own town board. The name Randburg was picked in a challenge, and is gotten from the South African Rand money, which was presented at around a similar time that the new district was built up in 1959. Randburg was a fortress of the National Party amid the politically-sanctioned racial segregation period.
The inhabitant statistic of Randburg will in general be more prosperous than the greater part of Johannesburg. The zone was proclaimed as a white region amid the Apartheid time, yet post-politically-sanctioned racial segregation has pulled in a shifted populace. It is still predominately involved by white English and Afrikaans rural natives.
