Krugersdorp is a mining city in the West Rand, Gauteng Province, South Africa established in 1887 by Marthinus Pretorius. Following the revelation of gold on the Witwatersrand, a need emerged for a noteworthy town in the west of the reef. The legislature purchased some portion of the Paardekraal ranch and named the new town after the Transvaal president, Paul Kruger. Krugersdorp never again has a different civil government after it was incorporated into Mogale City Local Municipality alongside encompassing towns. It is presently the seat of government for Mogale City.
Krugersdorp is the site of a December 1880 social event at which in excess of 6,000 men pledged to battle for the Transvaal's autonomy. Established in 1887 by Marthinus Pretorius after the disclosure of gold on his ranch, Paardekraal, from that point the mining business assumed a significant job in the advancement of the city. Two significant occasions ever of Africa: the Transvaal War of Independence 1881 and the revelation of the Witwatersrand Goldfields 1886 occurred in Krugersdorp.
