About Franciscan Church

The Franciscan Church is well known among locals and visitor, it is the most seasoned existing religious working in the Old Town of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

The congregation was sanctified in the year 1297 within the sight of King Andrew III of Hungary. Before, the congregation building served for bigger social affairs of townspeople or Hungarian nobles.

Amid crowning rituals, rulers used to knight nobles as Knights of the Order of the Golden Spur in this congregation. The building was harmed a few times by flame and seismic tremor and just a little piece of its unique frame safeguarded, most outstandingly the presbytery.

The adjoining Chapel of Saint John the Evangelist with a tomb worked in the second 50% of the fourteenth century is viewed as one of the finest cases of Gothic engineering in the city.
