About Mihaileni
Mihaileniis a commune in Botoşani County, at the border between the historical areas of Moldova and Bucovina, Romania, such as the villages Mihăileni, Pârâu Negru and Rogojeşti. Mihăileni Commune is located within the North-West part of Botoşani County, on the border with Ukraine, in a hilly vicinity, at the left bank of the Molnita River and at the Siret River. The Mihăileni Fair became founded in 1792 following the outlet of a customs factor between Moldova and Bukovina.
At the 1860 census, the Mihăilenii were officially the 22nd city locality of Moldova, by using population. The village of Rogojeşti and the previous village of Sinuuţii de Jos were a part of the Duchy of Bucovina. According to the census carried out in 2011, the population of Mihăileni commune amounts to 2.326 population, down from the previous census of 2002 while there had been 2,808 inhabitants. Most of the inhabitants are Romanian. The essential minorities are Ukrainians and Romania.
