About Arpasu de Jos
Arpasu de Jos is a commune in Sibiu county, Transylvania, Romania, together with the villages Arpasu de Jos, Arpasu de Sus and New Romania. The year of the first documentary attestation is 1223 in the act: Rivulum qui dicitur Arpas. In 1765, the village turned into in part militarized and changed into part of the 8th Border Regiment of the Border Regiment I from Orlat until 1851, while it turned into abolished. Traditionally, the Arpas were part of the Fagaras Country and Fagaras County, after whose abolition entered the Stalin Region and then from the Brasov place.
Starting with 1968, it is part of the modern-day county of Sibiu. According to the 2011 census, the population of Arpasu de Jos commune is 2.502 population, down from the preceding census in 2002 while there were 2,803 population. Most of the inhabitants are Romanian. The principal minorities are Roma and Hungarian. For 4.92% of the populace, ethnicity is unknown.
