About Augustow
Augustow is a city in north-jap Poland with 30,802 inhabitants. It lies at the Netta River and the Augustów Canal. It is located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, having previously been in Suwalki Voivodeship. It is the seat of Augustow County and of Gmina Augustow. In 1970, Augustow became formally recognized as a health and rest inn. In 1973, surrounding settlements had been named part of it, forming a popular lodge city. The town was first referred to in 1496 and was granted town rights through king Sigismund II Augustus in 1557, changing its call in his honor.
It changed into redesigned and laid out in a very ordinary way, with a spacious market-area. Until 1569 Augustow belonged to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania whilst the Real union called Union of Lublin become signed between Poland, Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Royal Prussia. As an end result, the city have become a part of the Kingdom of Poland, at the same time as its cemetery was left inside the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Tatar invaders destroyed Augustow in 1656, and the second half of the 17th century noticed the town via plague.
