Sandnes

Sandnes is a metropolis and municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is the 7th largest city in Norway and it lies right away south of the metropolis of Stavanger, the 4th biggest city in Norway. Together, the Stavanger/Sandnes place is the 3rd biggest city place in Norway. Sandnes is part of the district of North-Jaeren. The city is split into thirteen boroughs. The administrative centre of the city-municipality is positioned inside the borough of Trones og Sentrum inside the town centre. There are several village areas in the rural components of the municipality consisting of Hommersak, Hole, Foss-Eikeland, Stokka, and Vatne. The 304-square-kilometre municipality is the 275th largest by using place out of the 422 municipalities in Norway.

Sandnes is the 8th maximum populous municipality in Norway with a population of 75,497. The small port village of Sandnes was granted ladested popularity in 1860. On 6 April 1861, the small metropolis become separated from the municipality of Hoyland to form a separate self-governing municipality of its own. Initially, the municipality had 440 citizens. On 1 July 1957, a small part of Høyland municipality became transferred to the town of Sandnes.
