About Honefoss
Honefoss is a town and the authoritative focal point of the region of Ringerike in Buskerud province, Norway. Honefoss is a modern focus of inward Ostlandet, containing a few manufacturing plants and other industry. Starting at 1 January 2008, Honefoss has 14,177 occupants. In 1852, Honefoss got town status and was isolated from Norderhov. In 1964, Honefoss stopped being a different district and turned out to be a piece of Ringerike. The town is named after Hønefossen, a cascade on the Begna River. The main component is the name of the old ranch Honen Old Norse Hoenvin, the last component is foss signifying 'cascade'.
The name of the ranch is a compound of a word hoen-with an obscure importance and vin f 'knoll'. Honefoss is found 63 kilometers northwest by street from the Norwegian capital of Oslo. Honefoss is arranged north of Lake Tyrifjorden. Honefoss is home to a few plants and other industry, with Norske Skog Follum keeping up its central station in the city. Dating from 1873, Norske Skog Follum was one of the biggest makers of newsprint in Europe. The paper factory shut in 2012.
