About Hawera
Hawera is the second one-biggest town inside the Taranaki area of New Zealand's North Island, with a populace of 12,a hundred and fifty. It is close to the coast of the South Taranaki Bight. The origins of the town lie in a government army base that became installed in 1866, and the town of Hawera grew up round a blockhouse in the early 1870s. Hawera is seventy five kilometres south of New Plymouth on State Highway three and 30 minutes' power from Mount Taranaki. It is placed on State Highway 45, called Surf Highway forty five for its severa surf beaches.
State Highway forty five passes thru Manaia, Opunake and Oakura en direction to New Plymouth. Kaponga is a 20-minute pressure to the north-west. The Marton–New Plymouth Line railway passes thru Hawera and has served the metropolis on account that 1 August 1881, although it's been freight-only for the reason that cancellation of the final railcar passenger provider between Wellington and New Plymouth on 30 July 1977.
