About Zoeterwoude
Zoeterwoude is a municipality within the western Netherlands, within the province of South Holland. The municipality covers 21.Ninety six km2 of which zero.70 km2 is water. It had a population of 8,396 in 2017. The municipality of Zoeterwoude includes Zoeterwoude-Dorp, Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk, Gelderswoude, Weipoort, Westeinde, and Zuidbuurt. The fundamental brewery of Heineken International is placed there. The call Zoeterwoude is first referred to in a record from 1205, which references a positive "Florentius van Sotrewold". It is uncertain if this is a reference to the village.
The first confirmed life is from 1276 while Dirk van Santhorst obtained the "Soetrewold" fiefdom from Floris V, Count of Holland. Its municipal obstacles have been set circa 1300. At that point it become considered one of the biggest municipalities within the Netherlands, however later a whole lot land was annexed through surrounding towns, significantly Leiden. In 1450, the primary bridge between Leiderdorp and Zoeterwoude became built. In 1574, Zoeterwoude became burnt to the floor and its polders inundated by using Leideners with the intention to increase the range of the town's cannons. Almost no inhabitants remained in Zoeterwoude.
