Wassenaar
About Wassenaar
Wassenaar is a municipality and town positioned in the province of South Holland, on the western coast of the Netherlands. An affluent suburb of The Hague, Wassenaar lies 10 km north of that city at the N44/A44 highway close to the North Sea coast. It is a part of the Haaglanden vicinity and is part of the Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan location. The municipality covers a place of sixty two.37 km2, of which eleven.45 km2 is included via water. Wassenaar is home to some of the Netherlands' maximum richest residential neighborhoods as well as the copuntry's most high priced street, the Groot Haesebroekseweg.
There are rumours that the 12th-century Romanesque church in Wassenaar lies on the spot wherein the Northumbrian missionary Willibrord once landed within the Netherlands; the excessive dunes to the west have been no longer shaped till later. Wassenaar long remained an unremarkable little city, recognised handiest as the house of the House of Wassenaer. It best commenced to benefit notoriety in the nineteenth century while Louis Bonaparte ordered the development of the Heerweg between The Hague and Leiden, which bureaucracy the present day Rijksstraatweg.
