About Sassenheim
Sassenheim is a city and previous municipality within the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The former municipality covered an area of 6.62 km² and had a population of 14,906 in 2005. Since 1 January 2006, it's miles part of the Teylingen municipality. The name Sassenheim includes components; the first means Saxons, and the second element is Old Frankish for "home". Sassenheim become fashioned between the cities of Leiden and Lisse on the japanese edge of the antique coastal dunes wherein the main avenue from Leiden to Haarlem become located.
Along this avenue many castles and estates have been built, which includes the mansions along Sassenheim's Main Street relationship from the early 1900s. The village church is constructed on a dune top and portrays a variety of creation styles. Sassenheim is positioned in an area referred to as the "Dune and Bulb Region". Historically, Sassenheim had a big bulbflower industry but this has now all but disappeared, only some fields continue to be.
