Moordrecht

Moordrecht is an area and previous municipality within the Dutch province of South Holland close to the Zuidplaspolder. Moordrecht is located at the Hollandsche IJssel, with Gouderak on the alternative facet. A ferry connection is maintained between each places. Moordrecht is cut in third through the Middelweg. The Utrecht - Rotterdam railway line also runs thru the vicinity, but Moordrecht now not has a station on this line. Until 1935 there has been a stop at Moordrecht.

In September 2006, in a referendum on possible reclassification applicants, 93% of the Murderers of Rights chose to merge with neighboring municipalities Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel and Zevenhuizen-Moerkapelle. Only 7% selected the opposite neighboring municipality of Gouda. The city council has widely wide-spread this preference and determined to start merger talks with Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel and Zevenhuizen-Moerkapelle. The authorities submitted a bill at the give up of 2008 to merge the three municipalities. The new municipality of Zuidplas changed into set up on 1 January 2010.
