About Pokhara
Pokhara is the second largest city of Nepal, located west of Kathmandu. The city is famous for trekking due to its proximity to the Himalayan Mountain ranges. Dotted with lakes and evergreen vegetation, set against the backdrop of the mighty Himalayas, Pokhara is a beautiful tourist destination.
Due to its proximity to the Annapurna Mountains, the city is the base for the famous Annapurna circuit trek. The Annapurna Ranges are a part of the Himalayas. They have three out of the ten highest mountains in the world—Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu. It is the ideal place for adventure lovers. The Pokhara valley too is a breathtaking sight. “Pokhara” literally means valley of lakes.
The Seti Gandaki is the main river flowing through the city. Also known as the White River, its tributaries have created several gorges and canyons in and around Pokhara. The Valley has an abundance of lakes and rock-cut caves. These caves are as mysterious as they are beautiful. The many Hindu and Buddhist temples in the town are popular tourist sites. Pokhara is the perfect destination for both nature and adventure lovers. It is also referred to as the Tourism hub of Nepal.
