About Mariental
Merriental is a city of 10,000 inhabitants, which is located in the north of Catmanshop, B1 national road 232 kilometers 144 miles and 274 kilometers 170 miles southeast of Windhoek. It is located at an altitude of 1,090 meters. The meriental is connected to the Transmimbel railway line from Windhoek to Catmanshope. The city and the surrounding area are in a hot, dry area. The Merientalal is the administrative capital of the Haradop region in an area, which has long been the center of namesake people.
It is located near the largest reservoir of Namibia, the Herrap Dam. Named by the local Rennish German Lutheran missionaries, this city was founded in 1912 as a railway stop between Windhoek and Ketamanshop, and its name was named after the name of the first colonial settler in the region, Herman Brandt's wife Maria. It was d a city in 1920 and a municipality in 1946. Mariani is home to a large number of Namo-speaking people, who are descendants of Namibia's initially lost inhabitants.
