Numaran

Numaran is a town and seat of the municipality of the equal name, within the relevant Mexican kingdom of Michoacan. It is positioned to the north of the state, limits to the north and east with the state of Guanajuato, to the south with the municipality of Penjamillo and Zinaparo and to the west with La Piedad; its distance to the capital is 175 km.

Its relief is made of the Transversal Volcanic device and the lomerio of the gorge, the Penjamillo mountain range and the Cofradia and de l. A. Cruz hills and the Pescado and Largo valleys. It is a totally vintage town, previous to the Spanish conquest. In the 12 months of 1529 the conqueror Nuno de Guzman, stopped in Numaran to his came about in the conquest of New Galicia, today Jalisco. With the consolidation of the Spanish authorities, in 1562, Numaran received the title of metropolis, granted through Don Luis de Velasco, 2nd viceroy of the New Spain and they assigned him, in addition, the adoration of Santiago.
