About Jonuta
The city of Jonuta situated on the right bank of the Usumacinta River is the leader of the homonymous district of Jonuta, in the Mexican territory of Tabasco, situated in the locale of the Usumacinta River and in the sub-area of Los Rios. Record with a population of 6,899 inhabitants, which makes it the second less populated metropolitan leader of the state.During the religious mistreatment released in Tabasco by the Governor Tomas Garrido Canabal, in 1929, the congregation of the Black Christ or Lord of Health situated in the town of Jonuta, is obliterated by the anticlerical Garridistas.
Also, in 1939 an airstrip is challenged in the town. In 1956 the State Congress issues a declaration by which the town of Jonuta ascends to the status of a city. Also, in 1985 the "Jonuta Bridge" over the Usumacinta River was initiated, leaving the metropolitan seat forever conveyed via land with the remainder of the state.
