About Jocotepec
Jocotepec is a town and region, in Jalisco in focal western Mexico. The region covers a zone of 384.36 km². Starting at 2005, the region had an all out population of 37,972. Maybe as right on time as 100 BC, itinerant groups of Indians went through the Lake Chapala Valley. Some proceeded onward, others settled on the shore. Jocotepec, when Xuxutepeque, a little angling town at the western end of the Lake, turned into a lasting home for the Nahua Indians in 1361. They assembled a sanctuary to their god, Iztlacateotl, and rehearsed human penance. The town turned into an exchanging and stately site for the encompassing mountain territory.
Jocotepec has two religious defenders: Nuestro Senor del Monte and Nuestro Senor del Guaje. A Fiesta Patronal a religious festival of these defenders is held right off the bat in January. It endures two weeks, and praises the main supporter, the Lord of the Mountain, with day by day masses, moves, cockfights, bullfights, marches and firecrackers. Another celebration, later in the year, respects Nuestro Senor del Guaje, yet on a littler scale.
