About Jerecuaro
Jerecuaro is one of the 46 municipalities that make up the state of Guanajuato, in Mexico. The starting place of this network is pre Hispanic, but it was submitted to the Spanish Crown through the indigenous cacique evangelized Nicolas San Luis de Montanes. Its prison foundation dates from the year of 1572, below the administration of Bishop Fray Juan Medina Rincon, who erected the parish in the equal way as Father Vasco de Quiroga had accomplished some other place.
It becomes called San Miguel Jerecuaro; in a record that includes 1852 we realize that the Municipality had that call. Jerecuaro means Place as Nest. In 1910, at the time of the Revolution, the Municipality changed into seat of diverse revolutionary groups and of the federal troops of the porfirista government. In 1928, on the time of the Cristero rebellion, a battalion of infantry of the federal navy become quartered in a constructing placed on the street that these days bears the name of Fray Angel Juarez. In the contours of the population numerous combats had been staged.
