Izucar

Izucar is a city in Izucar de Matamoros municipality situated in the southwestern piece of the Mexican territory of Puebla. The city fills in as the metropolitan seat of the region. At the enumeration of 2005 the city had a population of 41,042 inhabitants, while the region had a population of 69,413. The region has a zone of 514.11 km², and stands at 1100 m above ocean level. Its biggest different networks are the towns of La Galarza and San Juan Raboso. It has numerous sights like the portales, and Santo Domingo, the greatest church in the city.

Izucar de Matamoros gets its name from the nahuatl word, Itzocan, which is created from itztli, signifying "blade" or "rock," ohtli signifying "way", and can. In this manner, it signifies "Spot of the stone way". Other elucidations propose that it could signify "Spot of painted faces," or "Spot of obsidian" or "Spot where obsidian is worked". Izucar de Matamoros was the site of the Mexican American War Skirmish at Matamoros on November 23, 1847. The focal point of the 2017 Puebla seismic tremor was about 6.0 km east of the downtown area.
