About Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos
Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos is a district in the territory of Jalisco, Mexico. It is found 30 kilometers from the state capital: Guadalajara. In addition, it is considered inside the regions that make up the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara. There are a few understandings or implications of the word Ixtlahuacan. The first clarifies that this word is made out of two unique words "ixtla" from Ixtlacateotl, which was the overall divinity around then and "huacan" from Chimalhuacan, which was the name of this whole broad area. Different understandings given to the name are "place from where you can see far", "plain with water" and "level spots".
Around 4 kilometers west of Ixtlahuacan, at the foot of the most elevated slope known as "El Picacho" there is a spot called "El Varal" for being where "Las Varas" flourish, which are long and slight sticks that were already they used to make tapeixtes, colored pencils, wattles, fences and lodges. In "El Varal" there is an uncovered and plain level where from 1513 to 1534 an ancestral gathering from Tlajomulco possessed. This gathering was decisively that of Don Francisco Tepotzin who had quite recently left Tlajomulco. Nearby "El Varal" there is another broad enclosure referred to by all as "La Quebrada".
