Comalcalco is a metropolis positioned in Comalcalco Municipality about forty five miles northwest of Villahermosa in the Mexican nation of Tabasco. Near the metropolis is the Pre-Columbian Maya archaeological website online of Comalcalco. The literal English translation of "Comalcalco" is "In the house of the comals". A comal is a pan used to put together meals. The municipality, which has an area of 723.19 km², consists of many smaller outlying communities, the biggest of that are Tecolutilla, Chichicapa, Aldama, and Miguel Hidalgo. In 1820, the river Mazacalapa turned into drying up, and among the households made residence in the center of the river on an island. The Government of the State of Tabasco; which includes Juan Mariano Sale, Antonio Solana and Fausto Gordillo, and all members of the congress; installed a metropolis in October, and named it Isidro de Comcalco. The decree became posted by Don Marcelino Margalli, governor of the nation and Jose Mariano Troncoso, who was secretary of the nation. The city is positioned inside the Comalcalco municipalities, and on November 14 of 1834 the first neighborhood authorities was created.
