About Ayotlan
Ayotlan is a municipality located in the cienega place of the state of Jalisco in Mexico, which has a place of 4,892 km² that is equivalent to 6.11% of the nation, is placed 117 km east of the town of Guadalajara, according to the Population Census and Housing 2010 the municipality has 38,291 inhabitants. Its territorial extension is 518.57 km2. The population is specially engaged in commerce and agriculture.
In 1530 the peninsulares referred to as it Ayo el Chico to distinguish it from the huge, populated one that become near San Pedro Piedra Gorda, inside the gift kingdom of Guanajuato. In the year of 620 and 623 the Aztecs arrived, finding the vicinity already populated through indigenous businesses. About 10 km south of the city is a mound referred to as "Pueblo Viejo" which turned into the primary seat of the city. Before the conquest, there have been about 15,000 indigenous human beings living scattered during the Coinan Valley. They trusted the lordship of Coinan, whose capital turned into Tototlan. They worshiped Ixtlacateolt, divinity very venerated in the contours of Lake Chapala. The natives had raised shrines or Cues in the hill of the Villas.
