Shelek

Shelek formerly Chilik, is a metropolis in Almaty Region of south-japanese Kazakhstan. Administrative center of Shelek rural district. It is located about 69 km north-east of the middle of Esik. The agreement became based in 1871 because the village of Chilik, then Zaitsevsky, from 1932 to May 1997 the settlement changed into the administrative center of the Chilik vicinity. On May 23, 1997, the Chilik district turned into abolished and incorporated into the Enbekshikazakh district.
