About Virajpet
The town of Virajpet also spelled as Virajapete is the second town of the district of Kodagu, in Karnataka. It is the principle town of the Virajpet taluka, south of the area, in the Kerala-Karnataka outskirt. The name is a shortened form of Virarajendrapete after the previous leader of Kodagu, Virarajendra, and this last shape is still here and there utilized. It is a residential community of significance for the neighborhood espresso and zest crops. Adjacent towns are Gonikoppal, Ammathi and Ponnampet.
Virajpet is around 30 km far from Madikeri, the locale home office and is around 250 km from Bangalore and 165 km from Mangalore. The best way to achieve Virajpet is by street. The name "Virajpet" is a shorter iant of past name "Virarajendrapet", named after the Haleri King Dodda Virarajendra who established the town in 1792. He established the town to remember his gathering with General Robert Abercromby, his partner against Tipu Sultan, the leader of the Kingdom of Mysore, in 1791.
It was the base camp of Yedenalknad taluk. The historical backdrop of the goal is rich as it was led by different South Indian traditions. The Gangas, the Kadambas, the Chalukyas, the Cholas, the Hoysalas, the Rastrakutas and the Vijaynagar Rayas likewise governed the area.
