About Tadoba
Popularly known as the land of tigers, Tadoba is one of the best protected tiger reserves in the country. Located in the Chandrapur District of Maharashtra, Tadoba abounds in natural heritage. It is one among India’s 50 “Project Tiger” tiger reserves.
The name ‘tadoba’ is derived from the God Tadoba or Taru worshipped by the tribal people who live in the dense forested areas. It was believed that Taru was a village chief, killed in a glorious encounter with a tiger. A shrine was dedicated to him, which was placed on the bank of Tadoba Lake.
Tadoba is famous for Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Tadoba Lake, Erai dam, Moharli and Khosla village. Tadoba-Andheri Tiger reserve is one of the largest National Parks in Maharashtra. This is the ideal destination for nature lovers. Tadoba abounds in a wide iety of flora and fauna. Tiger sightings are very common and wildlife photographers frequent the place.
