Srivaikuntam

Srivaikuntam is a panchayat town in Thoothukudi locale in the Indian province of Tamil Nadu. It is situated on the banks of the waterway Thamirabarani. Srivaikuntam has a sanctuary committed to Vishnu, known as Srivaikuntapathi Swami, with a grandiose gopuram. The Thiruvengada Mudaiyar Mandapam is rich with figures of Yallis, elephants and warriors. The Ekadasi Mandapam, which is opened on Vaikunta Ekadasi days, contains models. Amid the time of contention between the East India Company powers and Veera Pandiya Kattabomman, the sanctuary filled in as a fortress.

The Kailasanathaswamy sanctuary is another vital sanctuary and contains six engravings of the seasons of Kattabomman. The town is situated on the north bank of the Tamirabarani waterway. It is 30 km east of Tirunelveli, 30 km west of Tiruchendur and 39 km from Tuticorin. Bus administrations are directed from Madurai,Tirunelveli, Tiruchendur, campbellabad and Thoothukudi through Srivaikuntam. There is a railroad station at Srivaikundam.
