Srirangam is an island and a piece of the city of Tiruchirappalli heart of Tamil Nadu, in South India. Srirangam is limited by the Kaveri River otherwise called Cauvery stream on one side, and the Kaveri distributary Kollidam Coleroon on the opposite side. Srirangam is home to a noteworthy populace of Srivaishnavites adherents of Lord Vishnu. The Srirangam sanctuary complex is made out of 7 concentric walled areas and 21 towers gopuram. The southern gopuram of the sanctuary, called the Rajagopuram, is 239.5 feet tall and, starting at 2016, is the tallest in Asia.
The development of this Rajagopuram was started amid the rule of Achyuta Deva Raya of the Vijayanagara realm. In any case, development was stopped after his demise and the structure of the rajagopuram stayed inadequate for a long time. The stupendous errand of fruition of the rajagopuram was embraced and finished effectively by Sri Vedanta Desika Yatheendra Mahadesikan, the 44th jeeyar of Sri Ahobila Matha. The development was finished in a range of 8 years. The Rajagopuram was blessed on 25 March 1987.
