About Melukote
Melukote in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya region, Karnataka, in southern India, is one of the sacrosanct places in Karnataka. The place is otherwise called Thirunarayanapuram. It is based on rough slopes, known as Yadugiri, Yaadavagiri and Yadushailadeepa, disregarding the Cauvery valley. Melukote is around 51 km 32 miles from Mysore and 133 km 83 mi from Bangalore.
Melukote is the area of the Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple, with an accumulation of crowns and gems which are conveyed to the sanctuary for the yearly festival. On the highest point of the slope is the sanctuary of Yoganarasimha. Numerous more holy places and lakes are situated in the town. Melukote is home to the Academy of Sanskrit Research, which has gathered a huge number of Vedic and Sanskrit original copies. Right off the bat in the twelfth century, the well known Srivaishnava holy person Sri Ramanujacharya, who hailed from Tamil Nadu, remained at Melukote for around 12 years. It has therefore turned into an unmistakable focus of the Srivaishnava order.
