About Honnali
Honnali is a panchayat town in Davanagere region in the Indian province of Karnataka. Shimoga is around 40 km toward the south, Ranebennur is around 46 km toward the north, Harihar is around 35 km toward the north east and Shikaripur is around 37 km, shirallakoppa 57; km and munchikoppa 61; km to west of Honnali. Honnali name got from "Honnu alli", which implies Gold. The Tungabhadra River moves through this taluk. The vital control of the general population in this taluk is horticulture.
This place is sacred place for Veerashaiva people group a greater part network of karnataka, due to HIREKAL MUTT or Channappaswamy mutt, which is an autonomous and furthermore now a part of ShriShaila Peetham. The present religious leader of this organization is 'Sri Wodeyer Chandrashekara Shivacharya Swamiji'.
