Gopalapatnam

Gopalapatnam is an area in the city of Visakhapatnam, India. The area is considered as the major private and business territory in the region. It is situated inside the purview of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, which is in charge of the city pleasantries in Gopalapatnam. It is situated on the west edge of Visakhapatnam city. Gopalapatnam mandal is one of the 46 mandals of Visakhapatnam District. It is under the organization of Visakhapatnam income division and the headquarters is situated at Gopalapatnam. The Mandal is limited by Gajuwaka, Seethammadhara and Pendurthi mandals.

Gopalapatnam has situated around 4 km from Visakhapatnam Airport and around 8 km from Visakhapatnam railroad station. The area is served by Simhachalwm railroad station of the Waltair Division. The station is situated at the focal point of the area associating the Highways NH-16 and SH-39. Gopalapatnam misleads the west of Visakhapatnam City and is inexactly circumscribed by Gajuwaka toward the south and Seethammadhara toward the north, Pendurthi toward the west, Marripalem toward the east. Gopalapatnam was named after Sri Gopala Raju. He used to manage Kota gutta, Enugula Dwaram, Gurrala Cheruvu, Taati Penda territories which were joined to shape the present Gopalapatnam.
