About Dumka
Dumka, headquarters of the Dumka district and Santhal Pargana region, is a City in the state of Jharkhand, India. It was made the central station of the Santhal Pargana locale, which was cut out of the Bhagalpur and Birbhum area after the Santal Hool of 1855. Dumka was cut out of the southern piece of Bihar alongside 18 different Districts on 15 November 2000 to frame Jharkhand as 28th State of India. Dumka is a quiet and green city is likewise sub-capital of Jharkhand. The closest essential urban areas are Rampurhat and Deoghar.
There are two speculations on how Dumka got its name. The first proposes that Dumka's name gets from the Santali word sumk for "shunted" or "little," in light of the fact that amid the British Raj, it was a residential community contrasted with Rampurhat and Bhagalpur. The other is that Dumka gets its name from the Persian word damin-I-koh, which signifies 'skirts an edge, outskirt or outrageous part of the slopes'. The Mughals appointed this name to the town and its region by virtue of the nearness of hillocks and undulating territory.
