Dhandhuka is a city and a region in Ahmedabad area in the province of Gujarat, India. Dhandhuka is incorporated into the renowned Bhal area. Dhandhuka is said to have been established by, and to take its name from, Dhana Mer koli, or rather Mehd, the second of the thirteen children of the Sonang Mehd who in early occasions came into Gujarat from Sind. Having no child, Dhan Mehd is said to have given the town as a Krishna, or enduring, blessing to a gathering of 400 Brahman evacuees from the fierceness of Ebhal Walo. The towns of recent chamunda rulers are likewise situated here.
As indicated by another record, the town is said to be called after Shri Dhandhiu of the Chaulukya line who wedded the little girl of Mularaja Chaulukya's ancestor. In the twelfth century Dhandhuka ended up acclaimed as the origin of the colossal Jain instructor Hemchandra and in his respect Chaulukya ruler Kumarapala 1143-1174 raised a sanctuary over his origination. Under the Muslims and Marathas, Dhandhuka kept its situation as a nation town, its fortune being quite often connected with the fortune of Dholka. Alongside Dholka it was surrendered to the British in 1802. The city is 105 km from District focus Ahmedabad, on state parkway to Bhavnagar.
