About Chapari
Chapari is a registration town in Para CD Block in Puruliya area in the territory of West Bengal, India. The Jaina Bhagavati-Sutra of fifth century AD says that Purulia was one of the sixteen mahajanapadas and was a bit of the kingdom known as Vajra-bhumi in old events. In 1833, Manbhum area was removed of Jungle Mahals region, with focal station at Manbazar. In 1838, the headquarters was traded to Purulia.
In 1956, Manbhum district was allotted among Bihar and West Bengal under the States Reorganization Act and the Bihar and West Bengal Act 1956. Chapari had a people of 7242.
