Belthangady is a town panchayat and headquartersTaluk in Dakshina Kannada South Canara district of Karnataka state in India. Belthangady is one of the five Talukas of Dakshina Kannada area which has an incredible history and legacy. Aladangadi, Bylangadi, Belthangady are the imperative spots having verifiable criticalness. Belthangady currently known as Bangadi was the capital of Banga Arasas who ruled Dakshina Kannada area.
Dharmasthala is one of the sacred places in the taluk which is 16 km from Belthangady. The celebrated Manjunatha Temple situated along River Nethravathi is here. The Jamalabad post otherwise called the Narasimha Gada found only 6 km from the town. Tippu Sultan fabricated the fortification on the highest point of the slope and called it Jamalabad in memory of his mom Jamalabee. Venur, a Jain traveler focus is found 19 km from the town.
The Baraya Palace, is a deserted yet all around saved structure at Aladangady amidst a wilderness, situated around 60 km from Mangalore, which had a place with the Jain Ajila Kings of Aladangady. It is around 900 years of age, worked with mud dividers and had a covered rooftop, which was supplanted by Mangalore Tiles about a century back, and is kept up by the present beneficiaries of the Jain Ajila Kings. There is fancy wood work both inside and outside the royal residence, with 8 cut columns, confronting each other in 2 lines and supporting 4 strong wood bars.
