About Bellary
Bellary, officially Ballari, in the eponymous Bellary district, is a major city in the state of Karnataka, India. It is 311 km from the state capital of Bangalore and 354 km from Hyderabad. Already, Bellary has been a piece of Madras State and of Hyderabad State. It was moved to Karnataka in 1956 when new states were shaped. There are a few legends clarifying how Bellary got its name. The first is that a couple of faithful voyaging traders ending in Bellary, couldn't discover a Shiva Linga for their love.
They at that point introduced a hotshot an estimating glass or seru used to quantify grain topsy turvy as a Shiva Linga and worshiped it. Inevitably, that place was transformed into a sanctuary committed to Balleshwara or Shiva, which ended up twisted to Malleshwara, and in this manner Bellary gets its name from this sanctuary. The second legend is that the city is named after Indra, the ruler of Gods, who slew a Rakshasa evil spirit named Balla who lived adjacent.
Hotshot ari signifies 'adversary of Balla' ari – foe in Sanskrit. The third legend gets the city's name from the old Kannada word Vallari and Vallapuri. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India endorsed a proposalby to rename the city in October 2014 and Bellary was renamed to "Ballari" on 1 November 2014.
