Bawal

Bawal is a city in India in the state of Haryana, India. Bawal lies in the National Capital Region NCR of India. It is situated on national parkway NH 48 in the past called NH 8, around 14 km from Rewari city, 60 km from Gurgaon and 100 km from Delhi railroad station. Bawal Tehsil is a piece of the Rewari area. It was one of the three regions of the past Nabha State under British Raj. Bawal town was a piece of Jhajjar august state preceding first war of freedom in 1857.

As the Nawab of Jhajjar battled against the British, they balanced the Nawab of Jhajjar, Abdur Rehman, on 23 January 1858 and offered Bawal to double crosser Hira Singh, the leader of Nabha, who had helped the British against individual Indians. He manufactured a fortification of slate and stone brick work here in 1875. Its three-sided dividers and back passage are in an attractive condition. The closest air terminal is Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi, around 85 km away.

Bawal Railway Station is on the Alwar-Rewari railroad line. National Highway NH 48 once in the past called NH 8 goes through Bawal associating it with the significant urban communities of Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Vadodra, Surat and Mumbai. The previous NH 71 used to interface Bawal to Rewari before it was realigned and augmented to a 4-path toll street bypassing east of Rewari city. Presently NH 352 previous name NH 71 Narwana-Jind-Rohtak-Jhajjar-Rewari ends on NH 48 around 10 kilometers 6.2 mi north of Bawal.
