About Baghpat
Baghpat is a city of NCR and a Municipal board in Baghpat locale in western Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the managerial central command of Baghpat District. Preceding the foundation of Baghpat locale in 1997, Baghpat was a Tehsil in Meerut area. The town's name gets from the Hindi word for tiger. Baghpat town is situated on the banks of stream Yamuna at 28 deg 57' North Latitude and 77 deg 13' East Longitude.
It is 52 km from Meerut City and is on the primary Delhi Saharanpur Highway around 40 km from Delhi toward north. The city, established by the Pandava siblings of Mahabharata, was initially known as Vyghraprastha in view of the number of inhabitants in tigers discovered numerous hundreds of years back, and was one of the five towns asked by the Pandava siblings from Duryodhan to maintain a strategic distance from the Mahabharat.
Barnava, close Baraut is the site of the Lakshagraha - royal residence made of wax, that was worked by Purochana a clergyman of Duryodhana to execute the Pandavas. There are numerous adaptations of the story with respect to how the city determined its name. One less well known rendition expresses that the city has gotten its name from the Sanskrit word Vakyaprastha. Motivated by such words and forms, the city was at last named Baghpat amid the Mughal Era.
