About Borna
Borna is a town in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, capital of the Leipzig district. It is arranged roughly 30 km southeast of Leipzig city. It has approx. 22,000 occupants. The town is the region seat of Leipzig County. Borna is situated around 30 km south of Leipzig. The stream Wyhra courses through the town. The encompassing scene has been impacted by open-cast coal mining. The present site of Borna town was initially two settlements; Altstadt the old town and Wenigborn. Prior to the establishment of the town, there had been a water manor since the 9th Century.
The primary composed notice of the town of Borna was recorded in 1251. Borna was singed to the ground multiple times amid the wars of the Middle Ages. Since the mid 19th century the scene around Borna has been formed by open-cast mining of dark colored coal lignite with a summit during the 1980s. Throughout the previous 20 years there have been gigantic endeavors to revegetate this scene e.g. by flooding opencast pits and making new lakes just as planting a large number of trees. The industrialization of the town harmonized with the beginning of lignite mining around 1800. The lignite business was overwhelming in the locale up to this point.
