About Saint-Pol-sur-Mer
Holy person Pol-sur-Mer is a previous French cooperative, situated in the Nord office and the Hauts-de-France district, today connected with Dunkerque. The town was made in 1877 by separation of the town of Petite-Synthe. It owes its name to the estaminet which was at the passage of the city: "Holy person Pol" hence named in memory of the Knight of Saint-Pol-Hecourt, buddy of the well known privateer of Dunkirk Jean Bart. In 1889, "on the ocean" was included, before Dunkerque purchased the land in 1912 to amplify its port.
