About Seinajoki
Seinajoki is a metropolis positioned in South Ostrobothnia, Finland. Seinajoki originated around the Ostermyra bruk iron and gunpowder factories founded in 1798. Seinajoki became a municipality in 1868, market metropolis in 1931 and metropolis in 1960. In 2005, the municipality of Peraseinajoki turned into merged into Seinajoki, and inside the beginning of 2009, the neighbouring municipalities of Nurmo and Ylistaro were consolidated with Seinajoki. The Town library, Lakeuden Risti Church and central administrative buildings are designed via Alvar Aalto. The asteroid 1521 Seinajoki bears the town's call.
Seinajoki turned into historically called Ostermyra in Swedish. Today this name, which by no means was professional, could be very seldom used even many of the Swedish audio system. Literal translation for Seinajoki is "Wallriver". Seinajoki Airport is located in the neighbouring municipality of Ilmajoki, eleven kilometres south of the Seinajoki city centre. Seinajoki railway station in metropolis center turned into opened in 1883 and until 1897 it carried the name Ostermyra station. Seinajoki is domestic to SJK Seinajoki, a expert football team that competes within the Finnish Veikkausliiga. SJK is one of the pinnacle football teams in Finland.
