About Dussehra
Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashmi, is one of the major Indian festival celebrated on the tenth day of the Ashvin month according to the Hindu calendar. This festival is held on 8th Oct in India. It usually comes in the months of September or October. The day marks the end of the 9 days of fasting period of Navratri in the Hindu culture. It is on this day that the idol of Goddess Durga is immersed after ten days of worshipping. Dussehra is celebrated to commemorate the killing of Ravana by Lord Rama and the defeat of Mahishasur by Goddess Durga.
