About Chad Sukra

Pnars, a tribe of Meghalaya inhabiting Jaintia Hills district, being an agrarian community, have different agricultural festivals all year round, be it Baamphalar and Behdienkhlam. And it all sets off with the Chad Sukra, which is performed in ious parts of the district including Tuber, Wahiajer and Mihmyntdu.

‘Chad Sukra’ literally means to dance with joy for good health, both mentally and physically. It also helps in the bonding process among the people facilitating the spirit of unity and friendship. Chad Sukra is held before the people go off to their fields to sow seeds. It witnesses the participation of both sexes from different localities. In Jowai.
